The building housed generators used to produce electricity for downtown lighting. It was constructed in 1916 and decommissioned in 1971. The building was demolished in 2016.

Chris Janson played the Downtown country Jam and River Host collaborating with Choice Printing and the concert hosts created some special labeled cans for the band, honoring their hit "Waiting on Five".
River Hops Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom located in Historic Downtown Fort Dodge, serving beers made on-site and wines from the local winery. Customers are encouraged to bring food or have food delivered to the brewery. Outdoor patio area seating is set-up during warmer months. A safe, friendly atmosphere awaits those who stop to enjoy a cold fresh crafted beer. Live music is offered occasionally.
